More Faith {Pre-order Your Bible Study TODAY!}

In January of 2013, I entered the new year wide-eyed with possibility. I sensed the Lord moving and wanted to be a part of it. Whatever it was. With all my heart.

I charged into the year full speed ahead with this as my mantra: “Let your faith be bigger than your fear!”

I didn’t realize that the pursuit of more faith would begin with a personal exposure. Over the next couple of weeks, God gently revealed to me how fear was intricately woven in the fabric of my life.

Not faith. Fear.
Every time I tried to control my circumstances or the circumstances of those I love – fear.
When my insecurities surfaced like a three headed monster  – fear.
The way I tried to protect and surround myself and those I love with every comfort – fear.
When worry and stress had my stomach tied up in knots – fear.
The people pleaser in me that needs you to be happy – fear.
Guess what fear is rooted in. Unbelief.
The problem with my faith was that my fears were bigger than my view of God. If I really believed that God is real, always with me and enough, what would I fear?

My view of God had to grow if I wanted to live a life of faith. That’s why A.W. Tozer says, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” God is the measuring stick by which everything else is measured.

Take David, for example.

He knew that God was for Him and that God was enough. His view of God and of his life to come was bigger than his view of life on earth. That’s why he could take one look at Goliath and say, “I’ll fight Him. My God is bigger than this giant.” {My paraphrase.}

David wasn’t a reckless, over-confident little boy. He was an awe-struck, God-fearing example to us all.

How big is your God?
Is He bigger than your fears?
Is He bigger than all those Goliaths who dare to cross the battle line and threaten the integrity of your God?

These are the questions I’ve been asking myself.
My answer: I have a lot of growing to do.
That year I confessed over and over to God,“Lord, if I really knew you, I would trust you.” In many areas of my life I was struggling to trust, and somehow I knew that my lack of faith was intimately connected to my lack of knowing. I didn’t realize that God would lead me to this study as an answer to that prayer.
psalm9
In the Bible, God reveals Himself through His many names: names that reveal more clearly who He is and how He works in our lives. To know God’s names is to know God.

In He Is …: Knowing God by Name, join me as we look deeply into the character of God as we study eleven of God’s names. Over the course of ten weeks, you will be offered an intimate approach to knowing God by name. In the process, you will be wooed and wowed by the stunning power, perfection and presence found in each of His names.

Do you want to trust God more? Do you relate to the father in the New Testament who confesses his faith and his unbelief in the same sentence: “I believe; help me overcome my unbelief” (Mark 9:24)?

If you want bigger faith but have yet to find firm ground to stand on, THIS is the study for you!

“Personal, practical and profound-that’s how I would describe He Is . . . Knowing God by Name. It’s personal because Carrie Rogers has written it in such a way that we can relate each of the names of God to our own heartfelt needs. It’s practical because this Bible study points us in the direction of applying the great truths about God to our daily lives. Most important, the He Is . . . Bible study is profound because it leads us to a place of awestruck wonder as we examine the attributes of Almighty God revealed through His names.  -Karol Ladd author of Becoming a Woman of the Word
