take that leap

After my last post about starting, I’ve been thinking quite a bit about you.
And I’ve been wondering …
Is there anything that you’ve been putting off? Any God-sized dream that you’ve held on to or even tucked away (for fear that it would never come to pass)?

Maybe it’s writing a book,
recording an album,
stepping up to lead,
starting that ministry,
joining that group,
singing on a stage,
starting a blog,
starting a business,
finishing your degree.
Maybe it’s none of those things, but there’s something else – something else that’s buried deep inside, a prompting.

Can I just ask: What are you waiting for?
What’s really keeping you from starting?
Is it the perfect time? {The perfect time doesn’t exist.}
Is it not enough money? {There will never be enough.}
Are you waiting until your motives are perfectly pure? {They won’t be. Ever.}

It’s ok. Start anyways.

The only way we move towards those God-birthed dreams is this: We show up to the life that we’ve been given. We pull ourselves up to the table. One foot in front of the other, we make a move. We start.

And in the starting, we give ourselves grace, and we let ourselves off the hook. Because that thing that we’re starting – it won’t be perfect. Heck, it might not even be good, but we do it anyways. We do it poorly until we can do it better.

We each have been given this one life. This one day. This one moment.
God has secured our lot. He’s drawn our boundaries. Why not step out and explore what we’ve been given? It’s time to walk the length, the breadth and depth of His grace-filled plans for us.

If we really want to live a life that makes much of our God, then we have to be willing to take the leap and trust in what He can do.

So, what are you waiting for???
