What kind of prayers are you praying? {The new look and a dare}

I can’t start this post without acknowledging the obvious … we’re going through a few pretty exciting changes around here.  {For those of you reading through email, hop on over to my blog so that you can see my new look.}

The team at Tidal Wave has been hard at work creating a fresh new look for me, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. These guys truly blew me away – from their inspired creativity and talent to their expertise in marketing.  If you know of a company that is seeking creative services, I highly recommend them!  {More fun changes coming soon!}
……..

I’m currently wading knee deep through a study on the Names of God – a study that dives deep into character and heart of our God – and God is definitely using it to stretch me.

At the core of the study is this prayer: God, I want to know you more.

Actually, although the words have changed some, this is the prayer I’ve been praying for the last 7 years.  And God, who is rich in mercy and grace beyond measure, has been faithful to answer.

He keeps on answering {abundantly, wildly}, so I keep asking.

This is the prayer that is going to grow old with me …
Jesus, give me more of you.

Do you have a go-to prayer like that? A prayer that seeps out of every one of your pores?   A prayer that always cuts to the front of your long list of wants and needs?  A prayer that won’t quit? A prayer that you breath rather than speak?

If you don’t, I’d be happy to share mine.
Actually, I DARE you to pray it.
{But when you do, you better hold on to your socks, because when you persist in praying a prayer like this, God can’t help but see it through!}

Ask and it will be given; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Father God, Your Word says that you have given us a heart to know you {to experience and participate with you} and that’s what we want, Lord.  We want to know you more.  So I pray that you would pour out your presence on us. Open our hearts to receive all that you have for us today.  Please give us in proportion to your greatness – out of the riches of your love for us – and not according to our feeble prayers.  In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
