It’s been a long time since I’ve bent low – knees on the carpet and face to the floor, but this weekend, I felt called back to humble beginnings.
As I closed out another wonderful weekend retreat away, I put out the challenge – for them and for me. The challenge was this: Each morning after we peel ourself from the warm embrace of our sleeping place, we will hit our knees. We will physically bow down, head to the floor, and confess our love to the Father. We will present ourselves empty and submit our day – trusting in the only One who can fill us and make us whole.
It’s an act of the will to start the day low. A humble beginning to focus the heart. The kind of morning that honors and glorifies before anything else … that’s what we’re after.
So I’m saying out loud that I will commit again, and I challenge you to join me. We’ll call it our Face to the Floor Challenge. And each morning as we rise, we’ll hit our knees and thank our Father. We’ll confess our need and yield our day. Then back up again, we’ll embrace the day wide-eyed, trusting in a God who is able to fill everything in every way.
Are you with me?!?
If so, let’s commit out loud and hold each other accountable. 30 days!! Who’s in?
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
Do you believe that God will honor and grow you in this early morning posture? If so, hit the floor with me!
