It’s raining. And it’s Saturday.
(Did you hear my enormous sigh of relief from where you are?)
(Did you hear my enormous sigh of relief from where you are?)
The daily rhythm of our life has picked up substantially, so to lay low under this steady stream of rain is just what I needed today.

I’ve been lingering over a particular passage that I thought I’d briefly share with you.
It’s in Matthew 3: the scene of Jesus’ baptism.
… As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17
How many times had God spoken these words personally to Jesus in the past? We’ll never know. But this time, His words were announced publicly. With water still dripping from Jesus’ brow, the heavens split and God’s voice was heard.
This is my Son. {You are my child.}
whom I love. {Know that you are deeply loved and tenderly treasured.}
with Him I am well pleased. {Rest assured that I am so very delighted in you!}
Before Jesus stepped into public ministry – before He taught a single lesson, before He performed any miracles – God made it known that He was fully loved and fully accepted.
Before.
… and the same is true of you and me.
In Christ, we are fully loved and fully accepted.
Before we make the grade. Before we get picked for the team. Before we become a good wife or a good mom. Before we make dinner. Before we even get out of bed.
God is still shouting these words, {and they’re true!}
I love you, my child.
You are my treasure. My favorite.
I am so very proud of you.
Is there anything else in the whole world you would rather hear today?

Definitely needed after this weekend….so easy to fall into the legalism I escaped but God's grace was spoken to me and continues daily.
