Over ten years ago, I read two great books about the importance of praying for your family, The Power of a Praying Wife and The Power of a Praying Mom, both by Stormie Omartian. These powerful books lit a fire under me to begin praying for my people. Instantly, I was inspired. I felt equipped …
but I also felt completely overwhelmed.
The prayers that Stormie prayed were eloquent, beautiful, and long. From my perspective, she had a chapter for every topic imaginable. She had covered it all. (How does one consistently cover it all?) I was challenged by her pursuit but also paralyzed by it. (How was I supposed to take her huge wealth of wisdom and knowledge and break it down to bite-sized pieces that worked for me?)
In my mind, I had two choices: Forget about the whole thing or simplify the idea and make it my own.
I chose to simplify.
I decided that focusing on just one thing a day was do-able for me. One verse – one prayer – one focus. That, I could do. So, for over three years I wrote, prayed and shared these scripture prayers for my family – prayers for my man, prayers for my littles and prayer for me (because Lord knows momma needs prayers too).
Now, all these years later, I’ve compiled many of those prayers into this little book. These prayers aren’t fancy or eloquent. But, grounded in the Word of God, they are my simple and intentional approach to praying for my people. Like seeds buried deep in the dirt, I’m entrusting the harvest to the One who makes all things grow.
To launch my new, little book, Seeds: Scripture Prayers for your Family, I will be hosting a month-long series: 31 Days of Prayer. Every day in August I will post one prayer from the book – either prayers for your man, prayers for your littles, or prayers for you.

If you’d like a book of your own, you can grab a copy here.
I pray these little prayers are a blessing to you and your family.
