I don’t like surprises.
I’m one of those read the last page first kind of girls. I’m thrilled to know the score of the game before the final buzzer. Tell me how the movie ends (good or bad) and I’ll be your best friend. Maybe that’s the controlling side of me – the side that likes to know where I’m headed so I can prepare/pace myself for the ride.
But God …
I think He kinda likes surprises.
If you would have told me two years ago that one day (in the not so far away future) I would write and publish my first Bible study I would have laughed at you. Hard. And maybe even wet my pants a little in the laughing.
But that’s what I mean about God liking to surprise us.
I think He delights in giving us just enough information to put His will into motion. For me, it was two words and the desire to study. I knew nothing except this deep need to write it down. So I did. For Him. I didn’t tell anyone outside the four walls on my home for the longest time. What was I writing for anyway?
My mentor always tells me, “All we can do is the next right thing”, and this studying/writing down was the right thing for me.
A year later, my work was complete. Surprise! A 6 week Bible study broken into 5 daily lessons. The study He taught as He walked with me. The truth He required me to pursue. My lesson written down.
And as odd as it sounds, that was the easy part. It was the next right thing that was most difficult. Let it go. Sow the lessons He has taught and allow Him to gather the harvest.
My success will be in my obedience.
So … with a heart full of hope in the One who is ABLE, I will cast out these seeds of Truth and wait to see what God might do.
Oh – and please know, I will not turn down a single prayer in the sowing! Thank you, my friends.
