dunamis
(miraculous) power, might, strength, ability
I’m having a hard time sitting down as I type. Revealing truth gets me all riled up, and this truth is certainly worth standing for.
First, the verse:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8
This Greek word, dunamis, is found 120 times in the New Testament. Most of the time it’s translated as power, but it’s also referred to as strength, mighty work, miracle, and might. My favorite meaning, however, is found at the root of the word: duna, which means to be able.
If you are a believer, you have THE “to be able” living inside of you.
That means you have His strength. His power. His ability. IN you.
Jesus is your “to be able.”
Because of this word, dunamis – because of this power – because of this “to be able“, I can no longer cower in “can’t”. Can’t doesn’t exist in Jesus. And, when I live my day to day with my full weight on Him, can’t doesn’t exist in me. In Him, all things are possible.
That’s not just a nice sounding Bible verse. That’s Truth to stand on.

I don’t know what you’re facing today. I don’t know what’s looming around the corner of your next week. But I do know this: You have The “to be able” living in you and expressing Himself through you. Whatever it is … He is able.
