From bottom to top …
Saying It Well: Touching Others With Your Words by Charles Swindoll … God has opened the door for a few speaking engagements, so this book is timely. I’m a long way to go from “Saying It Well”, but I’m happy to have the opportunity to learn and grow.
Grace For the Good Girl: Letting Go of the Try-Hard Life by Emily P. Freeman … Ok. I’m cheating on this one. I read it over the summer but had to include it here so I could recommend it to you. This book is so good if you’re like me – a recovering performance-based acceptance addict. Please, read this book!
GraceWalk: What You’ve Always Wanted in the Christian Life by Steve McVey … Ever wondered, “Is this all there is? Surely there’s more to the Christian life than this.” If so, read this book!! Simple. Profound. Truth.
Raising Your Spirited Child by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka … I haven’t read a parenting book in years but my mentor recommended that I give this one a shot. I’m only a few chapters in, and I’m already learning about different temperaments and how to parent all different types of personalities (which is fabulous since there’s no shortage of personality in this house.) Maybe I’m the spirited one of the family!
Cleaning House: A Mom’s 12-Month Experiment to Rid Her Home of Youth Entitlement by Kay Wills Wyma … Just a couple chapters in and already loving this! First of all, entitlement makes me want to barf, so I’m thrilled with the idea of ridding it all together, let alone in my home. This book is fun, easy reading that is challenging how I “do house”. I need this one!
Anything: The Prayer That Unlocked my God and my Soul by Jennie Allen … This is the only one I haven’t started yet because I wanted to give it my undivided attention. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it and look forward to devouring soon.
Unveiled: Tamar, Unashamed: Rahab, Unshaken: Ruth, Unspoken: Bathsheba, Unafraid: Mary – a Five Novella Series by Francine Rivers … These novellas are great for a quick read. Although they are fiction (based on each women’s Biblical account), they bring to life the Scriptures in the most wonderful way. Mary is the only one I have left to read – which I kind of love, since Christmas is right around the corner.
So, that’s what’s piled high on my bedside table these days.
What about you? What are you reading???
{Yes, I really want to know. Last time yall gave some excellent recommendations. I’m always looking for the next great book to read. So, please! Share!}
