new things on the blog in 2016

The other night, my husband whisked me away for a night out to help me brainstorm/plan/dream for 2016. I came away with ideas scribbled on paper and possibilities swirling in my head. It’s looking to be a big year.date night planning

One of my desires for next year is to blog more regularly, weekly if possible. Last year my writing brain was zoned in on completing He Is …, so I only managed to publish thirteen posts. Although I don’t have plans to tuck myself way into another writing season just yet, with several projects on the horizon, I needed a plan to keep me blogging.

This is what we came up with.

For 2016, I will be writing four different blog series, each to be published once a month.

The first series, to be posted on the first week of each month, will be appropriately titled …

first - blog series

… but it’s titled this for reasons other than the obvious.

My top priority for 2016 is to carve out large blocks of time in the Word. I can’t lose this. I won’t. It’s life to me. And yet … it’s so easy to let it slide, isn’t it? We never intend to put our Bibles away. We never mean to let God’s Word become part of some pile – to let it collect dust on our nightstand tables – but it does.

So, first things first.

The First series will consist of a Bible verse or small portion of scripture and a few of my thoughts. My prayer is that these posts will invite you to open up your Bible and process with me.

The second series, to be posted on week two of each month, will be …

my favorites (1)

It may sound silly, but one of the things I hope for in 2016 is more fun. At times, I can get so focused and project driven that I forget about fun. This series will help me to pay attention to the things that make me smile. The sky is the limit for what this series could include. I’m excited to see what favorites surface each month.

The third series, posted on week three of each month, will be …

the struggle is real. series

These posts will address the many different issues we face – things we struggle with as women, moms, wives, friends, and believers living on this side of eternity.

I’m excited to tackle this one each month. I already have a running list, but I would love to hear your ideas for this one. What would you like to discuss in The Struggle is Real???

On the fourth week of each month, I’ll be posting on this …

what I learned this month

Each month I’ll be linking up with one of my favorite authors, Emily P. Freeman, as we share what we’ve learned. The idea is to spend some time reflecting on the month gone by before speeding ahead to the next. With time moving faster by the minute (and my brain retaining less by the second), I like the idea of creating space to seal in what matters. Silly. Serious. Important or not-so-much. I will be sharing it all. Maybe we can learn a little together too?

On the fifth weeks, it’ll be back to the basics …

Carried Away Blog

because sometimes, I just have to. 🙂

I hope you’ll join me as we set off into a new year.

{If you’d like to keep up with any or all of these series, click on the subscribe button and the blog posts will magically appear in your email inbox. I’ll see you there! }

Carrie I just love this! And I bought and just barely began reading Sinply Tuesday and it was such a breath of fresh air I can’t wait to read on and excited you are teaming together! For the struggles- I would say mommy guilt. When you have ugly yucky moments or days as a mom – and you always forgive and extend grace to others and KNOW God extends his gift of grace to you but for some reason can’t stop living in the guilt instead of the grave.
