Last week, I came across a story I’ve read countless times. The one when Jesus feeds the four thousand.
But this time, it captured me.
Moved by compassion, Jesus was compelled to feed the multitudes who had been with Him for three days and had nothing more to eat.
His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?”
“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied. Mark 8:4-5
They didn’t have enough, and I feel like that sometimes too.
Jesus, I’m sorry but I just don’t have enough.
Not enough time.
Not enough resources.
Not enough faith.
I don’t have enough to give You, Lord.
The story, however, doesn’t end with not enough. Jesus takes the bread, gives thanks, then passes the food out among the people.
The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. Mark 8:8
Jesus took their not enough and made it more than plenty.
He multiplied the small amount of food that they had and made it enough. More than enough.
So, what about my not enough? Do I really believe He can multiply that too?
Offer whatever time you have to Him – He’ll multiply it!
Give Him your resources – He’ll multiply it to advance His Kingdom!
Take a step in faith – yes! By His grace, He’ll multiply that too.
What do you need Jesus to multiply in your life?
