8 Questions as You Look Back on 2013

There’s something about the New Year that gets me excited.  I love the idea of starting new.  Actually, now that I think about it, maybe it’s one of God’s very favorite things too.
A clean slate. A fresh beginning. Oh yeah! That’s God alright.

However …

Before the calendar turns and we set off into a New Year, it might be good to reflect back first.  I know they say, “Never look back”, but sometimes, in order to really know where we’re headed, we need to remember where we’ve come from.  Sometimes, it’s the looking back that gives us eyes to see what’s ahead.

…

I found some thoughtful questions by Tsh from Simple Mom at incourage.me from a couple of years ago that I‘ll use as a spring board to get us started.  If you’d like to see that list in it’s entirety, you can check them out here.

So, will you take some time to look back with me?

Oh, come on! It’ll be fun. Go get a hot cup of coffee and we’ll do it together. {Seriously, go ahead.  I’ll wait.}

Ready now? Ok. Here we go.

1.  What was an unexpected joy this past year?

2.  In what ways(s) did you grow spiritually this past year?

3.  What weakness was exposed in you this past year?

4.  In what way(s) did you grow in your relationships with others?

5.  What was your single biggest time waster in your life this past year?

6.  What obstacle were you able to overcome this past year?

7.  In what way(s) did you surprise yourself this year?

8.  Create a phrase or statement that describes 2012 for you.

I pray that as you think through this list, God reveals Himself to you in a sweet way.  May you see His faithfulness, His protection, His provision, and His tender-heart for you as you remember.

And when you put pen to paper and list your resolutions for this New Year {2014}, how about a few like this:

I resolve to seek the Lord in all things. {I want to live like Jesus did – fully dependent on the Father for everything.  I am not my own.  I am His.}

I resolve to stand on the promises of God instead of being enslaved by the lies of the enemy. {I choose to feast on the Word because it’s life to me. It’s my only source of Truth.}

I resolve to follow wholeheartedly after Him.  {Be my first love, Jesus.  Be my enough. Be my everything.  This world has nothing for me. I choose to trust and obey.}

Happy New Year, my friends!!
