Every time I pull into the parking of a speaking engagement, I breathe a silent prayer.
“God, let there be something here for me too.”
Maybe it’s selfish for me to pray this way. I don’t know. But my longing for more of Jesus doesn’t stop when the person at the microphone is me.
I go to pour out, of course, but I also go to receive.
So a couple weeks ago, when I drove up to Oklahoma to meet with a room of teenage girls, my heart was expectant.
On Saturday morning, the leader of this group of girls asked the room of tired eyes, “What do you usually do during your quiet time?” Eyes darted around the room. No one was talking. After a few minutes of silence, she said, “Today I’m going to teach you how to study your Bible.”
For the next 30 minutes, I sat at the edge of my seat and took in her every word. I was learning something new – a strategy for approaching the Bible in order to soak in, understand, apply and grow in truth. {HELLO HAPPY PLACE!}
On my drive home, I was giddy. My appetite had been whet. How many different approaches were out there? What else have I been missing? I had to know more!
But that’s also when I thought of you.
I think it’s safe to say that a majority of believing women don’t know how to study the Bible on their own. We depend on our preachers and teachers to do the heavy lifting for us. We need a devotional or Bible study book to guide us into Truth. While these tools are instrumental in our growing faith, they cannot and will not ever replace the importance of going to the Good Book for ourselves.
Ladies, it’s time to open your Bible!
Over the next four weeks, I am going to walk us through 4 different approaches to Bible study. I will introduce the method, give an example and then give us some passages of scripture to put the approach into practice.
In the process, I hope you’ll gain some confidence in the Word as you find the approach that’s right for you.
Whether you’ve been studying Scripture all your life or have never cracked open the crisp, white pages of the Bible on your own, there will be something here for you.
Will you join me?

I’m so excited because I have been struggling. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to help me study the bible.
I’m excited too Rhonda. See you next week!
